How to Receive Your First PFL Payment

It takes about two weeks to process a new application for PFL benefits and issue payment to eligible workers. Visit Benefit Payment Options for more information on direct deposit, debit card, or mailed checks.

Documents to Review Before You Receive Your Payment

Carefully read and quickly respond to requests for more information.

After you submit your Paid Family Leave application, we will mail important documents to you in about two weeks. To avoid any confusion, read the documents we mail to you very carefully. Let us know right away if any information is wrong, such as wages, dates, or missing employers.

Notice of Computation (DE 429DF): This form includes your potential weekly benefit amount. It does not mean you are eligible for PFL benefits. Review immediately and contact us to correct any errors to avoid payment delays.

Electronic Benefit Payment Notification (DE 2500E): If you are eligible for benefits, you will receive this form. It includes important information about your benefit payments.

Request for Eligibility Information for Paid Family Leave (DE 4366PFL)/Request for Additional Information (DE 2566): If you applied by mail (or we can’t immediately verify your identity), you may receive one of these forms. Visit Acceptable Documents for Verification to learn how to avoid further delays.

Read all of this mail carefully and let us know right away if any information is wrong. This will help you avoid payment delays.

If You Are Not Eligible: You will receive a Notice of Paid Family Leave Determination (DE 2514) and an Appeal Form (DE 1000A). They will include instructions about how to appeal this decision.
